Y'know, I read something recently that said something along the lines of HFCS and sugar being "nearly identical" or "almost chemically identical." Hmm, well, oxytocin and Pitocin are exactly identical... but one crosses into the brain and makes the mother feel good and has benefits for the baby, while the other just makes her uterus contract and slams her baby. So, maybe they're not as "identical" as they thought, hmm? :-)
I teach independent childbirth classes in Central Maine, and lead a free new mamas group called Mamas and Muffins. I believe that birth can be an empowering, transforming experience for women and their partners, and that our bodies are powerfully and amazingly prepared to give birth. Birthing Your Baby classes help parents explore and understand the range of their choices for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum life.
I live with my husband and two children, our dog and our two cats. In addition to birth work, I homeschool my daughter and am involved in my church and at the grade school. I read a lot, work in my gardens, enjoy cooking with local food, and love spending time with my family outside.

Water and hydrogen peroxide are 'almost' chemically identical as well.
Life-giving oxygen and iffy ozone are 'almost' chemically identical.
Carbon dioxide, harmless to breathe in normal quantities, and lethal carbon monoxide, are 'almost' chemically identical.
Etc etc etc.
